The Pineapple Award

There are many different ways of motivating people - and also different reasons for wanting to do so. Sometimes we want to motivate in order that workers increase their productivity.

Maslow etc.

     

Other times we just want people to be happy.

This brings me to the Pineapple Award. I am now talking about the Nova Scotia ones, but the prestigious one awarded in Oxford a few years ago.

You can see the pride - and indeed happiness - on the recipient's face. 

This is important because the recipient then went on to achieve huge success at the London School of Economics.

I mention all this because the recipient (I am keeping her identity confidential as, at heart, she's a modest person) came to The Dogstar last night and became engrossed in discussions with Hugh Allison and Chris Sivewright who are co-producers of three plays due to be performed next week at The Dogstar. (Details below). Of particular interest - apparently - was the post about FRB

Certainly, topics such as the global financial crisis, marketing, (viral and guerilla) and pizza shortages were discussed. It just shows that plays, when well written and well acted (by such luminaries as Stephen Cheriton and Louisa Tee ) then they can succeed in many levels.

Certainly the three plays are a fantastic way to spend a chunk of next week - you could come THREE times and let each layer of the play sink in - and, given the superb Polish accent of Emilia Petryszyn you may even gain a smattering of another language.

But...we cannot promise you a pineapple.
