Life is a Rehearsal for Death

Someone said to me yesterday that to them 'life is just a rehearsal for death'. The person who said that is a  devout Catholic and he said those words when we were discussing Lent.

He showed me a website that dealt with this

The site starts with a quotation:

“To avoid the confrontation with death is a refusal to live life to the full.”

The quotation is from Lorenzo_Albacete

And ends with this:

Herein lies the essence of Lent. This season of dying to self and meditating on death- especially that of our Lord's -is a rehearsal for the real thing. The more we practice it, the more we see life as it really is and the more we ensure our passage into heaven when death greets us; as we know it will.

This whole idea of life, death, rehearsals is the type of thought or discussion one would expect to find in the play 'Wonder' - a play which is shortly to be performed in The Dogstar, Brixton (full details below). I had a quick look through the script and, perceptive, humorous, thoughtful and incisive that it is, the idea of 'rehearsal' 'life' and 'death' don't quite appear.
